FOOD INC.

So, I went today to watch food inc. and I saw that food is nasty. It reminded me of what my history teacher was talking about....there was this guy names Upton Sinclair who went undercover into meat packaging because he wanted to see what was really in the meat. Then when he went he found rats and rats poo and all that good stuff was getting packaged. So then that was when they created the pure food and drug act in which they have to put label on their packages and state everything that is in their meat or drinks. The movie made me realized how much I hate looking at food movies that talk about whats in it and where it came from. I don’t think I’ll be eating out for a while or maybe even at home since I buy packaged meat from publix. Really frustrated now!!!

  1. I'm dying to see this movie, not so much because I "have to" per se - but I just like indie films and I've heard only good things from my friends.

It's cool that you talked about Sinclair. It has a lot related to what the whole argument behind corporatized food is all about. The name of the book by Sinclair skips my mind right now... the one that you're referring to.... I think its "The Jungle," but I can't remember. That book was a crazzzzyyy expose on the shortcomings of laizzes-faire capitalism... that book caused the government to start a lot of reforms and resulted in a lot of much needed regulation; and also helped the cause of organized labor. Its amazing the impact that journalism has on society. And that's the great thing about this and other movies like it; things can change if people just ...well just pay attention and actually choose to give a shit.

Another awesome book by Sinclair was "Oil!" ...that book was adapted for "There Will be Blood," by Paul Thomas Anderson (amazing MASTERPIECE!) Okay, I'm going off on a tangent, typical (hey atleast I know myself)...... but if you never saw that movie then you have to see it!!!!!
