obama speech..

I honestly don't know exactly what to write about in this blog...but I decided to talk about the Obama speech. I enjoyed some of the things he said tonight. I have to be honest something about Obama in my opinion scares me! But, I am young so I'm still learning, anyways there was somethings in his speech about healthcare I really respected and appreciated from him. Like how he wants everyone in America to be able to have health insurance, and the whole thing about medicare. My father not to long ago had cancer, and thinking back on it if we didn't have health insurance I have no idea what would have happened, and where I would be today emotionally. My heart goes out to the people that have had issues with not being able to pay for medicine or surgery, which could have saved that person. I'm glad to know that he is making it one of his top priorities in changing some of the ways in America.

  2. I'm finally here! I can understand why Obama might scare you, not because I feel the same way... but because Bush scared the shit out of me! But, I digress... I have the experience of one of those people that knows what its like to not have health insurance or adequate health insurance coverage. My father died in January, infact... the day of our President's inauguration. I don't want to go too far in to it on a "blog" and spill my whole life out on to cyberspace, plus I hate it when people feel sorry for me.. but it is important to make a point out of how important healthcare reform is. My father could not get coverage for his condition, multiple myeloma. He had GREAT health insurance, infact... he had a PPO (I suggest those of you who are interested in the healthcare debate look up the differences between PPO, POS, and HMO). His health insurance wouldnt cover some crucial treatments he needed, and some diagnostic tests due to "pre existing conditions." He died basically because his PREMIUM health insurance viewed my dad as a profit margin, not a human being. And this is where I loved how Obama would reform healthcare and make the whole pre existing condition thing obsolete.

Keep up on Obama, read.. and dont let the Socialism thing scare you! Its a word that gets tossed around all too often. If everything was just black and white, Obama would be a socialist for the middle class, and Bush would be a socialist for the corporations (bailouts). I prefer the prior!
